My Bio
I am originally from Bucarest, Romania. My family immigrated to the U.S. when I was a small child and I grew up in New York City. My parents exposed me to all kinds of art, theatre, film, sculpture and music. I discovered drawing in grade school. New York City has specialized high schools and so I chose to go the High School of Art and Design where I majored in painting and illustration. From there I was awarded a full scholarship to the School of Visual Arts, where I received my BFA in illustration. For years I worked in the graphic design and advertising industry. I wasn't all that thrilled with the mechanics of it as it didn't really speak to my soul. I moved to San Francisco, CA in 1991 and gave up the design career for one as a doctor of oriental medicine. I had always struggled with my love of medicine and art and felt that it was time to turn to natural medicine. Everything aligned itself so that I could go to acupuncture school and a career in acupuncture emerged. About five years ago I felt the stirrings of the creative re-emerging in me. I started drawing again. This time not for a client but for myself. For what chose to express itself through me. I tried various mediums and while I loved it all nothing seemed to fill me. Until one day I had an epiphany, I could combine my love of skulls and illustration. I collect skulls, I have always been fascinated by them. They hold so much in them, the former life and energies of that life. I had just come out of a long relationship and was discovering the connection to myself and my divine feminine. What emerged from this process is the art that I currently make and am passionate about. For me it's multidimensional as it comes from a place deep within me. With each piece is a story, a journey of discovery and a transmutation. Life, Death and rebirth. I see it as my gift to all those that are on a journey of self discovery, especially women. The reclaiming of the intuitive, sacred feminine.
